The listed steel skeleton structure was completed in 1930 by the Chemnitz branch of Rhenania-Ossag Mineralölwerke AG. Designed as a tank house, it has underground gasoline tanks installed outside the building. It is likely based on a standard design.
The small tank house has a floor area of 25 m². A concrete column supports the large canopy.
After the war, Fritz Jechow’s car care and gas station was located here until the late 1950s. Around 1960, with the founding of VEB Minol, the gas station was converted into a Minol station. After German reunification, the building stood empty for a long time and fell into disrepair.
In 2013, flooding severely damaged the building. Thanks to a private initiative, the gas station was restored and converted into a place to rent as a hotel room. Its future use remains uncertain to this day.
